About
Thomas Thaddeus Truett Architect P.C., born and reared in the deep south, grew up with an artistic sense of creating and building, with family members in the the building industry for generations. The visual arts of film, design and music have also interested him, and he believes all arts have influence on one another. Thad establishes an emotion to his architecture in a similar way. Since 2007, Thad has been independently designing homes in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Oregon and Canada. Rooted in a strong background of classical and modern architecture, Thad designs uniquely traditional houses which blend a variety on vernacular styles that is appropriate in it's context. His well-recognized designs reflect his attention to architectural details combined with quality materials that blend naturally in the southern setting of lush green foliage and live oak trees. Similar to the hundred year live oaks, Thad’s designs appear to be carved in the landscape as if being there for many years. Thad’s commitment to the continuum of traditional southern architecture is evident throughout his diverse residential designs.
Thad started his career with James Bruce, Architect in Macon, Georgia. He worked on various projects including houses, schools and churches. He joined the Atlanta residential design firm of Spitmiller and Norris in 1993. As Project Manager there, projects included the 1996 Southern Living Centennial House, The Inn at Blackberry Farm, and residential work in the Georgia and North Carolina mountains. Classic homes of Atlanta’s Buckhead community were typical renovation projects, which Thad learned from these period homes. In 1999 he joined the Atlanta firm of Summerour and Associates Architects. After a few months the opportunity to open a Saint Simons Island office came about and he was asked to start the office. In that time he worked on many projects not only in Saint Simons Island but also nationwide. His designs have been featured in many publcations, and highlighted works include the Frederica Academy High School, additions to the Saint Simons Presbyterian Church and many custom residential projects both on Sea Island and Saint Simons Island.
